IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THE ACTRESS

Pumpkin is an emotional and reactive role.

Throughout DEEP, some of Pumpkin's strongest moments will not necessarily come from what she says. They'll come from what we see happening inside of her.

We're looking for an actress who can communicate through:

her eyes, facial expressions, silence, breathing, hesitation and subtle physical reactions.

Don't feel like you have to manufacture a big performance because there isn't a lot of dialogue on the page.

Sometimes the camera needs you to do less.

A look can tell us she's afraid.

A hesitation can tell us she doesn't trust someone.

A change in her breathing can tell us she realizes she's in danger.

Silence can tell us she's thinking something she doesn't dare say.

For Pumpkin, the camera should be able to stay on her face after everybody stops talking and the audience still understands what's happening.
