Rod arrives at his mother's house with Eve, a young woman his mother hasn't seen since she was a child.

At first, Mom is simply being Mom.

She brings out fresh lemonade, sits down, notices there's another woman sitting beside her son—and immediately asks:

 

“Where's Nissi?”

There's a little humor and suspicion there. She knows her son.

But everything changes when Eve explains why she's really there.
